Shuk Market and Garden Tomb

After classes weekdays we have free time to go out to the City to do as we please. One thing I wanted to do for sure was go to West Jerusalem to the famous Shuk Market an d so we got a group and set out to West J. The Shuk Market is like a Farmer's Market but they have so much more cool stuff here than anywhere else I've seen! Here are a few pictures of what was around.


So many cool spices. I am for sure bringing some home to spice up my meals for next year!

Mary, Hailey, and I bought very delicious donuts for only 3 shekels. That's less than a dollar! It was a great day!

Friday we had a mini field trip to the Garden Tomb. I had waited to come here my first time as the field trip so it would be extra special. We had

"Recreating" the picture in the back of the scriptures, it is one my goals to see and take a picture with as
many pictures in the back of the scriptures as I can, how legit would that be!? So this is picture # 13.

Our funny tour guide. The garden tomb is owned by the Protestant Christian Church and two guides
asked to take us around because they love us Mormons. They think it's amazing and funny that we all
can sing and even sing in 4 part harmony.

The story of Christ's ressurection is so special to me. It makes it even more special to me now that I've been there, I've seen the possible garden and tomb that Joseph of Arimathea gave to hold Christ. I love this story and instead of telling you to read it sometime I'm going to put my favorite parts right here so you have no excuse! :)

 Matthew 28
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

3 His countanence was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

How cool that the women came and saw the angels. They told the disciples and Peter and John ran to the Tomb, seeing he was gone they left but Mary stayed.

John 20

11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

I love this story so much. I don't know why but I love that Christ came to Mary first, maybe just because she's a girl. She must have been a wonderful disciple of Christ to be the very first one to see Christ as a ressurected Being. I wish I could talk to her and ask her how she felt when she saw her Savior standing above her after she thought he was dead and gone. In verse 16 I can imagine the way she says the word Master, with so much love and joy, and you can just feel her complete conversion to Him as the Savior of the World. She heard the voice of Christ say her name with so much love and compassion and from Him just saying that one word, she knew it was her Master.

I know that Christ died for me. I will never be able to imagine or put my head around all the pain he went though, he suffered so much because He loves us. He died, for us, and three days later, he was ressurected. And as the angel said:
